My approach to the role of dramaturg is to be someone that questions creators, in order to expand and define the potential of the project at hand, and it's impact on audiences. I have worked with theatre-makers, musicians, artists, playwrights, and poets in this capacity, and also hold an MA with distinction in Dramaturgy and Writing For Performance.

"It was amazing collaborating with Hugh on The Guide He helped to shape and write a beautiful play that exceeded our expectations… I’ve worked with quite a few playwrights and Hugh really is such a pleasure to work with mainly because he really listens to all involved in the project and isn’t afraid of working with multiple ideas! I would love to work with him again."
Tim Chaundy, head of drama at City and Islington College.

"Hugh was able to ask me questions about the show I'd have never considered. Using a range of techniques he helped me to examine Sunked from the inside out; exploring its themes, characters and plot with real insight and enthusiasm."
Chris White, writer/performer.

"Hugh’s careful facilitation and precise questioning always results in me leaving a session with fresh ideas and a better understanding of the play I am working on. He draws the best out of you, without ever forcing upon you what he thinks is best. I would recommend him to any writer without hesitation."
Sam Parker, writer/performer.
